I cycle everywhere, so I need things that are really usable when I’m in the city. But overall, I think it’s important as an editor to make decisions to support people you trust. It was a huge decision for me to put people in such a place and for a demographic that might not know them. I really wanted to make sure my style was really New York, which I dress anyway. I would like to offer a spot for brands and designers that I have an interest in or a relationship with. There’s something funny about you saying you hate bling when you’re in Bling Empire… This is something I’ve encountered quite a few times during filming, when the producers told me I had no aspirations. It really frustrates me because…what are you talking about? I have been very fortunate with my career to work in places where anyone who loves fashion would fall in love with it. I’m not saying this to brag, but having lived in Paris, doing Systems, Documentation [Journals], Magazines, and all of this… I think they’re like you’re not people with hunger.
